By ferry, via Port aux Basques
If you're driving from the Canadian mainland, the Marine Atlantic ferry runs from North Sydney, Nova Scotia to Port aux Basques, Newfoundland, a crossing of roughly six hours. From Port aux Basques it's several more hours of driving north to reach the Rocky Harbour area — budget four to five hours to Deer Lake and the surrounding region, then continue on Route 430.
Once you're on Route 430
Route 430 is the only road connecting Deer Lake to Rocky Harbour and the rest of the park's north side, so navigation is straightforward — there's little risk of taking a wrong turn.
